This pattern is part of my Eventually Granny Square series. Not sure if you’re up for making it? Try out the original Eventually Granny Square blanket for free to test out the techniques used!
Personal story:
I was assigned female at birth, and everything seemed pretty normal for many years. I wasn’t as interested in my dolls as my friends were, but it was thought that was because I only have older brothers. Then puberty hit and it was a hot mess. Doctors told me it would all sort itself out in time. They were wrong. I finally saw a specialist in my 40’s (!!) and he listened to my story, and suggested that I was probably intersex. I looked into what that meant, and suddenly my entire life started making sense!
I connected with Intersex Canada, and participated in some of their Zoom calls, and it was really amazing - I had never, knowingly1, talked to other intersex people before. It was life changing!
I was inspired to make a blanket pattern that looks like the Intersex Pride Flag. Now that the pattern is written, tested, and released, the pattern sample will be getting mailed off to a family I met through Intersex Canada who have just welcomed a new intersex baby to their lives.
