Eigh-shruth A-sruth Shrug
This pattern is for a shrug that is knit in one piece, from cuff-to-cuff. There is no seaming, and no finishing (other than weaving in ends) once you bind off. The center opening of the shrug is knit with an icord edge, meaning there are no stitches to pick up and knit after you have completed the body of the shrug. The wide range of yardage given is because this shrug is completely customizable for the body it will go on. The cable pattern is a 16 row repeat, and the length will increase or decrease depending on the number of repeats completed.
Additional materials needed
- US 5 & US 7 circular needles 24”-40”
- Stitches markers (2)
- Cable needle (optional)
This shrug pattern was originally worked up in Buffalo Wool Company, Buffalo Skies DK, in the Glacier Stream colorway. Though any DK weight yarn should easily substitute.
Second shrug was knit in Twisted Owl Studios , Twisted DK in the Highway Child colorway.
Gauge was measured prior to blocking and was achieved using the larger needles.
Errata note 3/1/2018 -
Page 2 typo - “Repeat rounds 1 through 16 until you have 50 sets between markers”; should read 50 stitches not sets.
3/18/2018 - Recommend having someone measure you/ recipient from knuckles to mid-back. Then when you’ve knit to mid-back count the number of cable repeats from the split to midpoint, and knit the same number of repeats before rejoining. Remember that each time you try it on the knitting may stretch some, making matching cable repeats more of true measure of length than trying it on.
