Elegant Scrollwork Traveling Coat
A coat for outings was a necessary frock to have, whether the wearer was above stairs or below stairs. Flattering diagonal lines and shaping give a contemporary edge to this above-stairs piece. The deep V-neck front shawl lapel with two-button closure is enhanced with the slight narrowing at the waistline and flare at the lower edge of the three-quarter-length coat. The back features a tab placket applied at the waist with two buttons and a more exaggerated flare shaping below the placket in the center third of the lower half of the garment. The large shawl collar, featuring two triangular points in the back, and the fold-back cuffs on the sleeves showcase the elegant tone-on-tone texture of the scrollwork embellishment.
