Eleganza Stole
Size: 42 x 187 cm / 16½ x 73½” (width x length)
Yarn: Walcot Yarns Opus (70% Argentinian Merino, 30% Peruvian Baby Alpaca; 350 m 384 yds / 100 g); 3 skeins.
Sample uses 3 skeins of colourway Summer Storm.
Alternative: approx. 990 m / 1090 yds of sport weight yarn.
Gauge: 42 sts and 44 rows = 18.5 x 14.5 cm / 7¼ x 5¾” of 1 repeat of chart (width x height). Gauge is not crucial for this project, but will affect the yarn required.
Suggested needles: 4 mm (US 6) straight or circulars at least 60 cm / 24” long.
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, row counter.
Techniques used: Cables, sewn bind-off.
Notes: The stole is worked from end to end lengthwise. The side borders are worked in Seed stitch; each Chevron section is worked in a combination of Reverse Stockinette stitch and Fisherman Rib stitch; 2-stitch cables are used to form the chevrons.
For convenience, dividing the sections of the work with stitch markers is suggested: 5 sts border, m – 21 sts (first repeat of Chevron motif), m – 21 sts (second repeat of Chevron motif), m x2 – 5 sts of the border. Total 5 markers.
