Elinor Dashwood’s calming personality is like water: steady, abiding and strong. Elinor Handkerchief is modeled after her character and is knitted with calming colors. The Feather/fan stitch conveys the look of rippled water.

Elinor Handkerchief is worked in the round, and increases 8 stitches every third round to create a square-shaped cloth. A set of 5, double-pointed needles (DPNs) and 29” circular needles are recommended for this project. A repeating, charted pattern is worked in the second half of the piece. Elinor Handkerchief is worked in two colors. Most of the handkerchief is worked in the main color (MC), with a two stripes worked in a contrasting color (CC).

A crocheted chain-ring starts the project from the center. DPNs pick up the center chain-ring chains as stitches, and the piece is worked from the center to the outer edges.
