I designed this swingy topper to wear over some handsewn pieces from Sonya Philip’s “100 Acts of Sewing”. The result is a quick and easy knit that can be tried on for fit as the work progresses. German short rows make the hem slightly lower in back for a flattering silhouette. Links to tutorials are provided.
The gauge is much looser than the one recommended on the ball band of the Lettlopi; I wanted an airy, drapey fabric with a nice halo. If substituting, be wary of choosing a yarn that is too bulky or heavy at the required gauge.
Takes 580 (705, 800, 925, 995, 1125) metres approximately.
My version, size 36.5 and 20” front length, took less than 6 balls of the Lettlopi.
Note: the most recent version of this pattern involves less “ballooning” of the body than in the original photos. Feel free to add more increases at greater frequency to achieve the amount of volume to suit your taste.
