Eloise is a fun little lady who loves to eat fancy salads and go for long, slow walks on the leaf. Anatomically speaking, she is a hat, then a sock, and then a bunch of i-cord. She is worked from the top of her head to the end of her body, then her shell is worked separately in a long tube, which is sewn and stuffed as you go. Shaping and structural hints are offered along the way, but don’t be afraid to do it your own way- these are only tips. Her beret and her scarf are optional, but very quick and fun to make. Go wild with her accessories and give her some options! Or don’t- this is your masterpiece, and you’ll know when she’s done.

The original Eloise’s shell is made with a gradient yarn. I’ve also made a solid color, and then accented it another color sewn up the spiral to help show the spiral off.

Gauge is not important, but you’ll need a sturdy fabric that is knitted tightly enough to stuff without showing through the stitches, hence the smaller needle size. Pattern is written in rows rather than measurements, so use whatever yarn you have on hand, just knit it with a needle that’s going to give you a tight fabric.

I recommend using a coated wire (flexible foam-covered rods for heatless hair curling work perfectly!) and some bean bags or heavier stuffing to help Eloise sit up straight. Shaping/assembly tips in pattern.
