This fabulous little cardigan is lightweight and pretty, bringing a contemporary feel to the traditional matinee cardigan.
Offered in one size to fit a 16” to 18” chest, this pattern would also work up wonderfully from just one skein of sock yarn (which, of course, makes it super easy to care for - essential during those mad early weeks with a baby).
The yoke increases are carefully incorporated into the pretty eyelet bands and the textured pattern adds warmth and interest, whilst at the same time making the rows easy to count. The button and buttonhole bands are worked at the same time as the main body, meaning that there is very little sewing up, and the buttonholes are placed elegantly at the end of each eyelet row.
The sleeves are gathered gently into the pretty cuff, which is generous in size so that under-sleeves can be helped down and the sleeve can be worn as 3/4 length as the baby grows.
Pretty without being fussy. I’m looking forward to making many more of these in the years to come!
