Reforged by the Elves in Rivendell with the pieces of Isildur’s broken sword Narsil, Andúril was reformed after Arwen pleads with her father, Elrond. Engraved with “Anar. Nányë Andúril I né Narsil i macil Elendilo. Lercuvantan i móli Mordórëo. Isil,” Elvish for “Sun. I am Andúril who was once Narsil, sword of Elendil. The slaves of Mordor shall flee from me. Moon,” it can only be wielded by Isildur’s heir, Aragorn. It is this renamed sword in the hands of the rightful king of Gondor that calls upon the Army of the Dead for aid in battle.

This pullover is a tribute to the skills of the Elves, who are known for their artistry and craft, and the markings on the hilt of Andúril. Worked in the round from the top down beginning with an i-cord cast on, intricate cables on the yoke and sleeves mimic a breastplate and vambraces, echoed by simple i-cord trim. German short rows gently raise the back neck for a better fit, and the body is finished neatly with a folded hem. (4” positive ease recommended.)

The publisher is aware that a small number of books have had issues with the chart key for this pullover on page 126. While the file was correct when sent to the printer, mistakes do happen, and the issue has been resolved for all future printings. If you have a copy that has the incorrect chart key (noticeable by the offset text), please email the publisher directly at info@insighteditions.com.
