Emily Shawl
This shawl was designed in collaboration with Daria from Cloud 9 Fiberworks.
The colourway used in the sample is Anemone Wall, and is inspired by Daria’s visit to an aquarium. When I saw this colourway I totally fell in love with it. It is bright and happy and I felt it needed special pattern.
I wanted to make something that used simple techniques, that would make the yarn really shine, and that would be fun to knit. This resulted in a 3 panel shawl using alternating bands of garter and stocking stitch and with a beautiful zig zag lace on the central panel.
The shawl got its name because my son at 3 or 4 could not say the word “anemone” – he pronounced it Emily. I found this amusing and cute, so it seemed the perfect name for this shawl pattern!
YARN
1 (2) skeins Cloud 9 Fiberworks Cumulus Sock, 80% Superwash Merino / 20% Nylon). 338 metres (369 yds) / 100 grams in Anemone Wall.
Amount of yarn used:
Small: 330 m, (361 yds)
Large: 518 m, (566.5 yds)
Good substitutions would include any yarn of a similar weight.

GAUGE
22 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm / 4 in worked in stocking stitch on 4 mm (US size 6) needle after blocking.
