This pattern’s a bit different from most “crochet entrelac” patterns, in that it actually has an multi-directional texture. Most crochet entrelac differs from knitted entrelac, in that all the little squares acually “face” the same direction. Knitted entrelac has a “this way, then that way” texture, almost woven in appearance. In this pattern, that sort of texture is achieved by using two different tunisian stitches, in alternating rounds. The horizontal boxes of tunisian simple stitch play nicely paired with the vertical V’s of tunisian knit stitch, creating a real “entrelac” texture.

Mini mochi is a wonderfully soft wool, but the color pattern will work fine with any yarn that has a long run of each color, or is advertised as “striping”.
