Note
Base mitten is knitted first, begining with cuff in lace pattern. Stitches are picked up and second layer of back of the hand is worked in another lace pattern using silk mohair yarn and then sides of the layer are sewn to the base mitten. Thumb is knitted directly from the palm side of the mitten after picking up stitches from where waste yarn is inserted.
