Some of the oldest textile fragments come from the Ertebolle culture. They lived in what is now Denmark and Sweden some 7,000 years ago. Their textiles were a primitive form of nålebinding.
The lace of this shawl was inspired by their wood and antler carvings. While the shape of the it is modern, it also reflects curve of the stone blades the Ertebolle produced.
The size is determined by gauge.
The large version gauge is 18 sts/26 rows = 4” in garter stitch.

The small version gauge is 32 sts/40 rows = 4” in garter stitch.
