The graphic, repetitive pattern of this sweater is inspired by the OXO borders of Fair Isle knitting, simplified and accompanied by purl stitches. This gives the pattern a lovely texture and is also fun to knit. I have knitted this sweater in two different qualities of Shetland wool: Shetland Supreme and 2-ply Jumper Weight, a yarn in the nine beautiful, natural shades of Shetland sheep. They are great to use in combination and provide an easy plain colour area after the yoke.

Method: the sweater is worked in rounds on circular needle from the top down, with a slightly higher back neck shaped with short rows. The rounds start at the centre back. The sleeves are worked in rounds on DPNs.
