Sımilar in shape and construction to the Esslyn Cowl but in fingering weight yarn, Esslyn Light is a simple and fun shawl-cowl hybrid. The cowl is worked flat like a top-down triangle shawl then joined to work in the round.

CLARIFYING NOTE: When working the mess section, continue to maintain the 6-st increase on the increase rows. For example, on Row 16, when you count all the stitches that works for the mess pattern, you should have 6 sts more than the previous row (NOT COUNTING THE CENTER SPINE MARKED CHAIN)
PATTERN NOTES
Esslyn Light is worked from the top down like a triangle shawl, then joined to work in the round once wide enough to go over your head when the ends are joined.
The simple cowl is worked in a plain double crochet sections broken up with mesh sections.
Increase 6 sts every row, then 2 sts every round. Move stitch marker up to center ch-1 sp each row/round.
Skill Level: Easy/Advance Beginner
Finished Measurements: About 17” deep, 24” circumference at top opening, and 35” circumference at bottom, (blocked)

Yarn: Knit Picks Palette (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 231 yards 211 meters/50 grams: 24253 Spearmint – 1 skein)
Hook: US F/5 (3.75 mm)
Extras: Yarn needle, removable stitch marker
Gauge: 16 sts and 12 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Dc
