Etoile Baby Blanket
Etoile baby blanket is a stranded colorwork knitting pattern, worked flat on a long circular knitting needle, and edged by a 2 x 2 ribbed border, all around.
It is made up of 23 bands of stranded colorwork, separated by two rows of one-color knitting.
It is worked by starting with a 2 x 2 ribbed border, then the main colorwork body is worked, after which another 2 x 2 ribbed border is worked.
Stitches are then picked up along each long edge and a 2 x 2 ribbed border is worked on each long edge, separately.
I have tried to keep the number of rows requiring floats to be caught, to a minimum.
There are 469 rows of knitting for the main body of the blanket, of which 8 rows require a float to be trapped. I have kept to trapping floats only if the span is 6 stitches or more.
The blanket has 290 stitches and 469 rows for the main colorwork block.
Each ribbed edge is 20 rows deep.
The motifs are only charted, there are no written-out instructions for the colorwork charts. Charts may start either on a right side row or a wrong side row, which is clearly indicated on the chart.
