Notes from the Designer:

Etude no. 2 is a lesson in lace and what you can do with a few yarn overs and simple decreases. To keep things interesting, this rectangular wrap is worked on the bias, with lace and garter sections that alternate in size and color. If you prefer, you can work the entire wrap in one color, or stash bust with partial and mini skeins. Enjoy the admiration you receive from your friends when they see your beautiful, new wardrobe staple; no need to let on how simple it was to knit!

  • Click here to watch a video tutorial showing how to work the Turkish Stitch.
  • The Original Version of this pattern was made with our Alpaca Silk Lace yarn. That version used two skeins of Color A) Quiet Moment and one skein of Color B) Anew.
  • This wrap is worked on the bias from one side to the other and alternates between Garter Stitch and Turkish Stitch lace sections of varying sizes.
  • Wrap begins with a large Garter Stitch section on one edge before introducing the lace pattern, and ends with a large lace section on the other edge with a slight Garter Stitch border.
  • Pattern is written for two colors so that the garter texture and lace are highlighted by their own colors, but the shawl can be worked in as many or few colors as you prefer.
  • Size can be easily adjusted by working more or fewer pattern repeats to achieve your preferred size before working the Garter Stitch border.
  • If working with multiple skeins of the same hand-dyed color, I strongly recommend alternating skeins to avoid color pooling or an obvious stripe when switching skeins.
