This pattern can be found in my 2016 book Double or Nothing: Reversible Knitting for the Adventurous.
To put a cap (pun intended) on the textured double-knitting in my new book, I decided to cram all the techniques I still wanted to teach into one pattern. As seems to be typical for me, I designed a hat with them.
This hat puts textured double-knitting to a different use, and adds a technique called quilted double-knitting to link certain areas together with vertical color changes rather than horizontal. There’s an exclamation point in the largest triangle, giving rise to the name of the hat -- but there’s also an option for a question mark that’s readable on both sides.
For the 20” size, the finished piece is 8.5” tall from brim to crown and uses 94g of yarn, just under half of what you’ll have, which means the larger (23”) size is well within the reaches of the material. Or you could make a second one.
