CONSTRUCTION This set-in-sleeve vest is a more masculine take on the Always Vest, with deeper armholes and wider shoulders. It is worked from the bottom up, without waist shaping. The hem and body are worked seamlessly in the round, then the garment is divided into front and back, which are worked flat and shaped at the armholes and neckline. Lines of garter stitch outline the armholes, and the neckline and armholes are picked up and worked in two-by-two ribbing.

The stitch pattern for this vest was adapted from the Always chart found in the Twisted Stitch Sourcebook, by Norah Gaughan. Twisted stitches resemble cables but are worked with a simple knit technique, and don’t use a cable needle.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
This pattern is #sizeinclusive with 8 size options.

Finished garment bust: 36.5 (38.75, 43, 47, 52, 56.25, 60, 62) inches / 91.5 (97, 107, 117.5, 130, 140.5, 150, 155) cm.

Using your full bust and waist measurements, choose a size that will give you up to 2 in/ 5 cm of positive ease for men (the difference between body’s smaller measurements and the garment’s larger measurements at these points) or up to 2 in/ 5 cm negative ease for women (the difference between your larger measurement and the garments smaller measurement at these points). Sizes 7 to 9 may require less positive ease. Sample shown in Size 2 with 0 in/ 0 cm of ease.

The most fool-proof method is to measure a similar fitting top in your wardrobe and choose a garment size that matches.
