These socks are striped in a variety of colors to represent hikes taken this summer. Each round represents one mile hiked, and each color represents a different hiking region. Neutral rounds will separate the hiking stripes for each other and the ribbed cuff, heel, and toe will be in the neutral color.

You will need about 400 yards total, in as many colors as you’d like to represent hikes where you live. I am using four colors for the hikes (green for the Columbia Gorge, purple for Portland, blue for the coast, and chartreuse for other) and off white for the neutral/divider color.

This is a knit along, so the pattern now just includes instructions for the leg. The heel instructions will be published June 24, and the foot on July 24. The knit along will officially end August 24. Post your in progress photos for a chance to win a prize!

If you’d like to post photos of your project or your hikes on Instagram, use the tag #FairWeatherSocks.

If you have a different basic sock pattern you’d prefer to use, feel free to substitute that. I’d still love to see your stripe pattern if you’re inspired by this!
