Fairnteckle Child's Sweater
Shawl necked sweaters are so practical for children. They can get them on over their heads easily, but the neck keeps them warm! Elly has named this one from the Orkney word for a freckle.
Materials
250 (300, 350, 400, 450) g aran weight yarn
4.5 and 5 mm (US 7 and 8) circular needles
spare 5 mm (US 8) needle
1 stitch marker
stitch holders or lengths of yarn

To fit age: 2 (4, 6, 8, 10, 12) years
Garment chest: 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33)”

Length and sleeve length easily
adjustable.
Tension
16 sts and 24 rows to 4” on larger
needles over Main Pattern Stitch after washing and blocking
Construction
The body is worked in the round until the underarm, then split and worked flat for the front and back. Sleeves are worked in the round and sewn into the armholes. The collar is picked up around the neckline and worked in garter stitch.
