Fairy Correspondence is a crescent-shaped shawl in fingering/sock yarn with a variety of stitch patterns, including textures, easy color work, and simple lace.
The instructions are fully written out, with one section also having a chart. Aside from that one section, the stitch patterns are so straightforward that charting really isn’t warranted.

The pattern also gives you an option to return to your favorite stitch pattern at the end and increase the size of the shawl.

Designed to be worked in three colors, this shawl also works well with a single color or a gradient.

Yarn
Fingering/ sock yarn, two 100g skeins in coordinating tonals (C1 and C2) + two 20g mini skeins of a single contrast color (C3). Kits in 4 different color combinations are available from Jilly and Kiddles.

The sample was made using Jilly and Kiddles Fancy Sock in the “Melon Missive” kit, which includes“Whispers in the Breeze,” “Just My Rind,” and “In the Grove.” Fancy is 85% superwash Merino/ 15% nylon with 437 yards/ 400 meters per 100 grams.

If you are making your own color selections, the shawl provides a lot of flexibility. You can really play with bright colors, but this would look fabulous in neutrals, too. Neutrals for the main colors with a really bright contrast color would also be cool. If you prefer to work in a single color, or use a gradient yarn, it will also turn out well. Highly speckled or multicolored yarns may obscure some of the stitch patterns.

Needles and notions
US 6/ 4.0 mm or size to obtain gauge. This shawl is worked flat, but a long (60”/ 150 cm) circular needle is recommended so that you can spread out the stitches as the shawl grows in size.
You will also need 20 stitch markers and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Small loops of yarn may be used if you do not have enough stitch markers.

Level of difficulty
Advanced beginner/intermediate. Stitch patterns include simple lace using yarn overs; textured stitches; and some colorwork. Most of the repeats are short and easy to memorize. While the shawl includes 3 colors, no more than 2 are used on any given row.
