Fall Creek: Named after the northern unit of Henry Cowell Redwoods State park. stylishly rustic, the Fall Creek beanie, and bonus gaiter cowl, are a perfect knitting project for DK weight hand dyed/painted yarns, particularly in semi-solid or tonal colorways. Knit several for yourself or to give as gifts!

Materials needed:
One skein Manos Del Uruguay Milo (65% merino wool, 35% linen; 380 yds/100 g skein; colorway “Pollen”) or any comparable DK to sportweight yarn of your choice
Size 6 US (4.0mm, 8 UK) 16” circular and double pointed knitting needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
One size fits most

Dimensions (relaxed after blocking)
Hat stretches to fit 22” / 55.9 cm head circumference
Cowl circumference stretches to 24” / 61 cm
Cowl height: 8.5” / 21.59 cm

DESIGNER NOTE: You will use one skein to knit both pieces. The cowl instructions yield a snuggly fitting gaiter style cowl. If you knit loose or decide to make the hat or cowl wider or longer by adding any additional stitch or row repeats, you might need a second skein of yarn (please be sure to buy extra yarn at time of purchase to ensure the same dye lot, and to alternate skeins each one to two rnds if using hand dyed yarn).
