You may be saying ‘These socks look familiar…’ Midway through knitting and designing False Front I had another cable pattern already coming together in my mind. This one is similar enough for you to knit and wear one of each (no second sock syndrome!). And is also interesting enough to knit both socks.
I love to look at the architecture of houses and buildings. The term, false front, describes a building with a facade that is bigger and more imposing than the inside. These socks have a similar trick up their sleeve…in their cuff. The front is smooth, simple stockinette while the back is an elaborate cabled panel.
Details: This sock is knit in the round from cuff to toe. The cable pattern is only worked on the back of the leg while the front of the leg and the entirety of the foot are knit in stockinette. The short row heel is worked without a heel flap using a unique but simple series of increases and decreases.
