Fan and Feather Scarf
Fan and Feather Scarf. Very simple to knit plain or striped.
Feather and Fan is one of the best known, simplest to knit and most effective of the traditional Shetland stitches. Despite its name, it is said to be inspired by the sea waves. This is not surprising, as there are few spots on the hundreds of isles where one is out of sight of the sea and nowhere can one be more than three miles from it. The pattern looks surprisingly different when knitted in more than one color, the stripes showing the undulations. Lovely effects can be obtained by grouping pastels, such as turquoise, rose and yellow or by using several tones of the same colour.
This vintage pattern was published in the 1940’s or 1950’s.
The pattern is written out.
