Fancy Muffatee
This pattern was original published as part of the 6 Muffatee Mystery Knit Along.
This particular lace pattern shows up in many historic publications identified for use in quilts, comforters, tidies, and muffatees. I believe the “Fancy Muffatee” pattern ,originally published in 1838, was to be knit flat by repeating row one of the modified pattern below and then seamed. The pattern itself never really specifies to seam, nor does it give instructions to divide up your stitches onto double point needles. After experimenting with the pattern both in the round and flat, I’ve determined that it had to be written to knit flat. I’ve modified the pattern so that it can be knit in the round.
