I saw the Cassandra Cowl by Julia Barrowcliffe in Knitscene. (It is also available in Ravelry.) It was a beautiful pattern and worked really well into mittens. So, thank you, Ms. Barrowcliffe.

The mittens can be knit with two circulars, double points (although a bit trickier with the color work) or Magic Loop. If using two circulars, one will carry 30 stitches for the back of the hand Fanfare pattern, while the second circular will carry 26 stitches for the palm of the hand checks pattern. For a larger size, add 4 stitches for the palm of the hand in the check pattern.

The mittens reach past the wrist by 2 inches.

Any sport weight yarn will work.
