Fangorn Toque
Fangorn Toque has just a little bit of everything: stranded colorwork, lace, texture, even knitting with roving (that’s the white stripe; I used roving instead of yarn because there’s no white in my oddments box; I love it more than if it were yarn!). Fangorn is the perfect topper to move into cooler fall weather and in some climates, it’s perfect for winter too! Braids at top make this a fun wear, and even my sons think it’s sick. There are ample places to put extra colors in the border, and if you’re new to colorwork, this is a great intro. It takes one ball of Northfield for a hat with a 20” circumference at hat band, plus about one quarter of a ball of the superwash dk, and a little bit of roving. It’s easily re-sized, as the repeat is 10 sts throughout the pattern portions (both colorwork and lace), and the shaping is figured into each repeat. (note: the shawl pictured on model is Artesian - to be released 08.27.2014; it is not part of this collection.)
The hat pictured on the model has about 2 inches of negative ease. The unstretched hat band measures 20 inches in circumference (inside measurement), and the model’s head is 22.5 inches in circumference.
