Inspiration
Between March 26th and April 4th, three Louisiana churches were burned to the ground. The arsonist was charged with federal hate crimes. On Easter Sunday, April 21st, three churches and hotels in Sri Lanka were bombed. These were both acts of terrorism. During this time I saw an Instagram photo of a stunning skein of hand-dyed yarn by Adella Colvin, the indie-dyer running LolaBean Yarn Co. In the caption she wrote: “From church fires in Louisiana to working towards inclusivity and equality, there are so many things going on in the world that impact us all in different ways.” As I read on I discovered she was giving all proceeds to the ACLU, and as news trickled out about the Sri Lanka attacks she later extended the fund raiser to include donations there as well. It is easy to want to shut ourselves off from the fear and hate in our world. Or we can choose to move toward love, kindness, inclusion, equity, and truth. If you want more of that in your world follow Adella on Instagram or Facebook. You’ll always be rewarded by filling your feed with lots of her humor, generous spirit, beautiful smile, gorgeous yarn, and her adorable little girl, Lola.
This pattern was originally released as a fundraiser for the ACLU and raised $370.
