This scarf, worked in 3 colors, provides the suggestion of a braid; the yardage given is the total for all 3 colors, divided equally.

The fabric is garter stitch, and can be knit using any weight of yarn with needles selected to give a pleasing fabric, either dense or light. The scarf’s width is determined by repeating the rows that build the initial triangle to reach a desired width. The instructions that follow use the number of stitches that result. Knitter chooses whether to work entrelac or intarsia, and continues until yarn runs out or a desired length has been reached.

The green/blue sample was worked using the entrelac technique with 3 compatible somewhat variegated fingering weight yarns (200 yards or 160 meters each). The white/teal/brown sample is intarsia using sport weight solid color cashmere yarn (130 yards or 120 meters of each color).

The colors are employed as separate repeating knitted-in color blocks; I can imagine an interesting version using multiple colors, gradient fashion, in place of one or more of the colors.
