Feather Mittens
Knit Picks Yardage: 396 - 693
These mittens are done in a dense brioche rib pattern, making them thick and warm!
Choose a fingering weight yarn that you would usually knit to a tension of 30sts per 10cm, and then drop your needle size. This will prevent the rib pattern to get too loose and will ensure that mittens get really warm.
It’s best to use a yarn that changes colour every few rounds in stocking stitch, such as the “exotic” and “landscape” colour schemes of Regia Design Line 4-ply.
There are three sizes for these mittens: Women’s S-M, with a circumference above thumb of 18.5cm (7 1/4”), Women’s L/Men’s S, which has a circumference of 20cm (7 1/8”) and Men’s M-L, which measures 21.5cm (8 1/2”).
2 skeins (459 yards) will probably be enough in most cases for knitting the largest size also. But it will be tight, so you might want to have another skein ready, especially if you knit it for a person with longer hands/fingers.
