Feleegle heel socks
It’s my experience that all sock knitters love a new heel to try! My variation on the much-loved Fleegle heel has a neat rectangular gusset at the back of the heel for a really good fit. I’ve created this version in simple blocks of colour to allow you to see the construction at a glance. But worked on a striped sock, with the heel turn worked in whatever colour happens to be up at that point, you get a very cute boostrap effect.
I’ve written this as a plain stockinette toe-up boot or house sock to give the widest array of sizes in a speedy-to-knit winter sock. But by all means, insert ribbing or pattern stitches at will, adjusting your stitch count as necessary. I’ve also deliberately written the heel instructions as a recipe, as well as providing the numbers for this sock, so you can use it with your favourite sock pattern.
These socks are toe-up and knit in the round.
