This is a pattern for a knitted and felted hippo. You will need one skein Patons Classic Wool (I used Dark Grey Mix) plus small amounts of pink and white, two 9mm safety eyes, size 9 needles straight and double pointed, and polyester fiberfill. The completed hippo will measure about 11” long.

This pattern is for intermediate knitters and assumes knowledge of the following: knit (k), purl (p), increase (inc), decrease/ knit 2 together (k2tog), knitting in the round, and short row shaping/wrap and turn (W/T).

Other wool yarns may be used, but please knit and felt a test swatch to make sure the yarn felts, and that the colors do not bleed.
