There’s no need for esoteric cast ons or complicated applied edgings with this beginner friendly shawl. A surprising reversal of a common lace shawl construction, the horseshoe lace of this clever shawl is knit first and the garter body is picked up afterward, achieving a lovely lace border with only a few basic knitting skills.

The Fer Shawlette is a crescent-shaped shawlette, knit flat from the short edge of the lace border. The garter stitch top section is picked up from the side of the border and shaped with short rows.
