Fern Bag
This circle bag looks stunning but is a simple and quick 
make. The pattern is inspired by the uncurling fronds of 
ferns growing through cracks in an ancient stone wall.
MATERIALS 
● Stylecraft Special 
Aran, 100% acrylic, 
100g/196m/214yds 
Yarn A: Graphite 1063 
x 3 balls 
● Stylecraft ReLove, 
80% recycled acrylic/ 
20% recycled wool, 
100g/220m/240yds 
Yarn B: Pea Shoot 2567 
x 1 ball 
● 4.5mm hook 
● Zip to match yarn A, 
20cm/8in 
● Sewing thread to match 
yarn A 
● Sewing needle or sewing 
machine 
● Tassel maker, 7.5cm/3in 
(or similar sized piece of 
stiff card)
YARN ALTERNATIVES 
This bag could be made in 
any aran-weight yarn, 
although choose lighter 
fibres so that the bag doesn’t 
become too heavy.
TENSION 
Work 18tr and 9 rows to 
measure 10 x 10cm/4 x 4in 
using 4.5mm hook, or size 
required to obtain tension.
