This pattern was originally published as Twisted’s contribution to the 2017 Rose City Yarn Crawl, March 2 – 5, 2017 in Portland, Oregon.

Portland boasts over 200 beautiful city parks, including 33 off-leash dog parks – more per capita than any other American city. The off-leash area at Fernhill Park in NE Portland is always full of happy pups and their people – especially in spring when the sun begins to shine. This sturdy yet stretchy cowl is the perfect accessory to reach for when you head out for a springtime walk to the park with your best friend.

Gauge
19 Ldc = 4”/10 cm in pattern. Gauge is not critical for this project, though it will affect finished size and yarn usage. To obtain a stretchy fabric, be sure to work with a large hook.

Needles and/or Hooks
H/8-5.00mm – for edging, J/10-6.00mm, and K/11-6.50mm – optional. If you find you are having trouble getting your hook into the slipped stitches, crochet row 1 with a larger hook.
