These sweet little socks show off an easy to memorize textural pattern that is reminiscent of the emerging fern fronds or fiddleheads that one finds in the woods in the springtime. You have to look closely but they are there, unfurling in three columns right up the instep and front of the sock. The back of the sock is a smooth stockinette stitch that extends to a minimal heel.

These socks are worked toe with gussets and an integral heel flap—no picking up stitches! Use a solid, light color yarn so that the textural stitch pattern can be easily made out. These socks are suitable for advanced beginners or intermediate knitters who are comfortable with a toe-up construction. Stitch pattern is given as a chart only.
