These Festive Birdies in their winter hats make a fun and colourful alternative to a boring bauble! Two hat styles are included… a Santa style sorting hat and a bobble hat, decorated with pompoms.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the birds and hats are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The eyes are small black buttons on top of white felt fabric circles, but you could also use toy safety eyes, wobbly stick-on eyes, or embroider them in yarn.

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles (US 4)

RECOMMENDED YARN
DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 25g skein in each colour

Tapestry needle, toy filling, and buttons for eyes

SIZES
One size only - up to 9cm tall.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming to finish.
