Festive Feet Socks
Festive Season Socks are knitted cuff down and have deliberately been designed to offer a relaxing sock to knit with a few extra techniques to keep your interest.
At the top of the sock, there is a Latvian braid with corrugated rib. For the heel flap, I have created an extended Eye of Partridge pattern and the toe decreases create a lovely rounded toe.
Pattern Tutorial: To accompany this pattern I have created a pattern tutorial. This is available through a private YouTube link that can only be accessed by people that have bought the pattern.
If you make these socks please do upload your WIP and FO on Ravelry. It would be great to see them on Instagram too - #FestiveFeet #FayDHDesigns @faydhdesigns
Yarn: 1 x 100g of RiverKnits British Bluefaced Leicester (400m/437yds per 100g).
1 x 20g of RiverKnits British Bluefaced Leicester mini skeins (400m/437yds per 100g).
Up to a 64 st sock, you only need 1 x mini skein for the contrast cuff, heel and toes. If you are knitting a 68+ stitch sock, you may need 2 x 20g for the heel, toe and cuff colour. If you get gauge, you may be able knit up tp a 72 st sock with the 20g mini skein.
Yarn substitutes: Something with the same or very similar meterage. It can be a different blend but be aware that meterage requirements will change if you substitute yarns. For sock knitting, you ideally want a yarn with a very high twist and/or some nylon or nettle content. These three elements bring durability. Superwash makes them machine washable. That said, I happily machine wash my 100% Corriedale (non-superwash), high twist socks.
Needles: 2.25mm short circulars and a set of 2.25mm double pointed needles.
Gauge/tension: unblocked 16 sts and 21 rounds over 5cm. Blocked 16 sts and 19.5 rounds over 5cm.
