Festoon
A speedy knit using thick yarn, these boot toppers will add a pop of colour to any outfit and stop chilly drafts at the top of boots.
Yarn: 100g aran yarn ; 190 m / 100 g.
Shown in: Mochi Plus; 80% wool, 20% nylon; 87 m/ 50g.
Needles: 5.5 mm double pointed needles or circular needle(s) for working in the round on a small circumference; 60 cm length suggested for circular needle.
Notions: tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker.
Skills: Cast on, working in the round, purl, knit, yarn overs, decreasing stitches, increasing stitches, weaving in ends.
Gauge: 20 sts and 18 rows over 10 cm in un-stretched rib. For this pattern exact gauge is not essential although differing greatly from this will affect the fit so you may need to make a larger/smaller size.
Sizing: Finished boot cuff will fit a leg circumference of approximately 27 (31.5, 36, 40.5, 45) cm / 10 ½ (12 ½, 14 ¼, 16, 17 ½)”. The ribbing gives some stretch to provide a snug fit, if you are between sizes you will probably find larger more comfortable than smaller.
