Fflewddur hats are a beret or slouchy hat with a web of cables coming together in the center. The cables are shown in main color with contrast color mixed in for the background. The cables are knit using a slipped stitch two color technique, bringing a striking result with simple stitches.

Slipped stitch cables give a lot of pop without a great deal of technical difficulty.

This is an intermediate pattern, or accessible to a confident beginner. Specific skills needed are knitting in the round, slipped stitches, cables and moving row beginnings.

Size: Average Adult

You will need DK yarn in 2 colors that blend well: 180 yds of Main color and 90 yds of Contrast color. The cables appear in Main color and the Contrast color mingles in the background.

You will also need US size 3 and US size 6 circular needles (3.25 mm and 4.00 mm), a cable needle, 12 markers, and a darning needle.
