Fflewddur is a poncho using Main Color (MC) slipped stitch cables above a background of moss stitch worked with both MC and Contrast Color (CC). It is a designed to protect a wandering bard from the weather as he rides his giant cat. Inspired by Lloyd Alexander’s Chronicles of Prydain.
This is designed to go with the Fflewddur Hat. It is tech edited and test knit.

Slipped stitch cables get a lot of pop without a lot of technical difficulty.

Size: A generously sized poncho meant to fit loosely.
Adult Small: Fits bust 32” to 36” (82 to 92 cm): neck 27” (69 cm): length 24” (62 cm)
{Adult Large: Fits bust 36” to 48” (92 to 122 cm): neck 31” (79 cm): length 28” (72 cm)}.

Yarn: DK weight, 1180 yards (1080 m) {1575 yards (1440 m)} of MC and 650 yards (600 m) {865 yards (790 m)} of CC. Be careful to choose colors that blend well since they are mingled closely. The sample is in size Large with Findlay DK Dappled with 105 Green for the MC and 206 Boardwalk for the CC. Mandala by Lion Brands would also be a good choice. Either use a neutral such as Harpy with a bright like Gnome, or go really wild with two different bright colors. Or substitute one solid color of the same weight.

Needles: Size US 6 (4.00 mm) 48” (120 cm) or longer circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: You will also need 16 {18} markers, a cable needle, and a darning needle.

Difficulty: Intermediate: skills required are cabling, knitting in the round and slipped stitches.
