My Fields of Flowers pillow is inspired by the Wizard of Oz. The flowers are inspired by the field of poppies, and the emerald green color represents Emerald City because the poppies lie before Emerald City in the movie. The back of the pillow is yellow to resemble the yellow brick road. The front side of the pillow is composed of thirty-six 3D flower granny squares. They are joined with a single crochet stitch in the backs of the squares, so the seam is hidden inside the pillow. The back of the pillow is a yellow traditional granny square. The pillow is joined together along three sides, and the bottom is held together with five buttons. This allows the pillow case to be taken on and off the insert. I used MillaMia Naturally Soft Cotton yarn, but any sport weight yarn will work. You will need two balls of the color of the front side, two balls of the color of the back side, and one ball for each of the colors of the flowers. You will also need a 14 by 14 inch pillow insert, and 5 buttons (1.2-1.5 cm in diameter).
