Enjoying the simplicity of basic brioche and garter stitch, this is a perfect project to show off some beautiful yarns mixed together. You could make your shawl as big or small as you want by working fewer/more repeats of the pattern.

Yarn: Sample shown knitted with FruValborg Merino Sock 3ply, 366m/400 yds per 100g colorways C1 Ash (black), C2 Fluke Pot (Orange) and C3 Wildling (White). You can use any other fingering weight yarn.

Needles: 3.5 mm/US 4, 40-80 cm/16-32’’ long circular needles. Switch to longer circular needles as your shawl grows, to accommodate the increasing stitch count. Check your gauge and adjust needle size if necessary.

Gauge: 20 stitches x 24 rows for 10x10 cm / 4’’ in brioche stitch, 20 stitches x 48 rows for 10x10 cm / 4’’ in stockinette, blocked unstretched. Stretches to 15 stitches x 24 rows for 10x10cm /4’’ in brioche stitch.

Finished size: Finished size of sample; Static edge: 115cm/45’’, increasing edge: 190cm/75’’, bind off edge: 140cm/55’’. Measurements taken after blocking the shawl slightly stretched. Shawl size will be determined by the limitations of your I-cord and knitting your I-cord loosely is crucial for a stretchy edge.

Yardage: Total yardage 810m/885yds. C1: 275m/300yds, C2: 240m/265yds C3: 295m/325yds.
