I’ve always thought of knitting patterns as yarn recipes. When I heard that there was an X-Men themed cookbook in the works, I knew right away that I had to submit a “recipe” for Wolverine Claw hand warmers. These are the perfect accessory to wear while eating cupcakes, fighting the Brotherhood of Mutants, or using your fire claws as a DIY hair straightener! The simple slip stitch motif reverses colors on the top and bottom of the mitts, allowing you to choose to wear them as an homage to Wolverine’s traditional metal claws, or his exciting new fire claws.

Yarn
One skein each of Lattes & Llamas Vacation Yarn (100 grams/ 463 yards) in Cyborg (MC/main color), and Mutant Sangria (CC/contrast color) or two sharply contrasting colors. Note that the yarn color for each round is indicated after the round number.
Needles
US0 / 2.00 mm and US1/2.25 mm 36”-40” circular needles for working in magic loop (recommended) or Double Pointed Needles if preferred. Adjust needle sizes as needed after taking gauge.
Gauge
20 sts and 28 rows = 2”
Notions
Stitch marker. Waste yarn (used as a stitch holder).
Sizing
One size fits most women. 8” circumference. If desired, you can work a larger mitt by increasing the needle size. Remember to check your gauge against your desired sizing.
