First Fall Days Socks
Pay What You Can: In order to balance both fair and sustainable pricing and financial accessibility, I now offer a “Pay What You Can” pricing model. I hope that this new model helps to value my and other’s work that’s gone into this pattern while at the same time allowing for financial flexibility for everyone who chooses to purchase it.
The middle price shown below (€10) reflects the fair and sustainable value of the pattern (assuming minimum wage for me as a designer and an average number of copies sold based on surveys I did last year).
In addition to that, you can choose between a few different price points. Simply click on the price you’d like to pay. Please note that Ravelry might add on VAT to that, depending on where you’re based.
A note on why I chose to also add levels higher than the fair value of the pattern: In order for my knitwear design work to be sustainable, the average pattern sale price needs to equate to the fair and sustainable pattern value. If you choose a price point higher than the “fair” price, you’re helping to make up the difference of one of the lower price points to the “fair” value.
The First Fall Days Socks are a celebration of the first slightly cooler breeze, the first whiff of crisp fall air when you open your window in the morning, the first evening on the sofa when you feel the need to snuggle up in a pair of cozy socks. They feature an intuitive, geometric openwork panel running in the center of the foot and travelling up the leg that creates just the right bit of interest while knitting them without getting too complicated.
The First Fall Days Socks are knit toe-up with a gusset and heel flap and adjustable foot and leg length to make sure you can knit a pair of socks that really fits you. They’re also designed for contrasting heels, cuffs and toes - while you’re of course welcome to knit them in one color, we do think it makes for that extra bit of fun to play with two of your favorite fall shades!
The yarn used to design this pattern is Woolly Mammoth Fibre Co. Natural Sock, a 50% Bluefaced Leicester, 50% Cheviot blend. As you might know, we’re dedicated to only using natural fibers for our design so we were thrilled to discover this custom-spun highly twisted sock yarn. It holds up beautifully and keeps your feet toasty warm.
