This eye-catching hat, featuring a bright brim and an easy fleck pattern, is sure to go to the head of the class.
Materials:
3 colors of worsted weight wool. In the example, I used Knit Picks Swish and Cascade 220. You’ll need about 120 yards of main color and fewer than 40 yards each of the two contrasting colors.
16” circular needles, size US 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (I am a loose knitter so in the example, I used size US 6) and additional needles for small-diameter knitting (DPNs, a second circular or a long Magic Loop needle). For a tighter fit around the head, knit the brim in one size smaller needles and then go up a size for the body of the hat.
Gauge:
5.5 stitches/inch in stockinette stitch in the round.
Measurements:
Child-sized: 8” from brim to top when measured flat. See guidelines in pattern for sizing up or down.
