Cuddle a new baby in this sweet and snug little vest. Knit up in fine wool, it makes a soft underlayer for cold weather. In cotton, it is a pretty shirt for warmer weather. Made simply, in two easy pieces, these are quick enough, you will want to make a few. An optional button tab at the shoulder makes dressing a breeze. Three sizes are given, to keep up with a quickly growing baby.

Materials: fingering weight yarn, 150 (180, 250) yards
Straight or circular needles, US size 5, or the size needed to get the correct gauge
Optional: 2 buttons, about ½”, for shoulder

Gauge: 23 sts and 48 rows = 4” in garter stitch

Pattern notes: The ribbed stitch pattern will draw in and look very narrow, but will stretch well to comfortably fit a range of adorable tummies.
All length measurements should be taken at the center of the vest.
