A rectangular double-layer coaster or pet blanket with a full fish on one side, bones on the other!

This blanket was designed and knit by my daughter Holly, for the delectation of her cat Poseidon, who has developed taste for snoozing on knitting. It is a mainly negative/positive double knit design with a small area within the fish that creates dissimilar sides.

For practice, try the Minnow Mat, all the techniques and fun on a smaller scale. Aim for a nice, soft fabric that gives sufficient coverage of the colour behind. Choose a needle size suited to your yarn. The needle size suggested on the ball band is often appropriate, as stocking stitch DK fabric is looser than regular stocking stitch
