Any gauge of machine with two beds may be used. The machine must be able to perform full fisherman’s rib. Most will do so although it is not always in the manual. There is a free chart on my website that will help you set up your machine for this stitch. In full fisherman’s rib, one bed catches loops on every needle but does not knit going one direction. On that pass, the other bed knits every needle. Then the beds swap duties so that the one that just knitted catches loops and the other knits every stitch. Select a yarn that is suitable for double bed tuck work on the machine in use. Smooth yarns that are in the small to medium range that the machine will normally knit are ideal. this is part of a book called “Special Scoodies”.
